Treatment for Moles

After living with moles on their skin for so many years, our patients are amazed to learn how easily they can be removed. In most cases, any sign of a mole or the procedure to remove it disappears in a short amount of time, leaving a patient with smooth, clear skin.

Every patient who visits Associated Dermatologists is offered a full body exam in order to evaluate their moles. Almost every adult has a few moles, though this may range into the dozens depending on skin tone, sun exposure, and genetics. Most moles appear on the skin during childhood and adolescence, and may gradually darken or lighten with time. These changes are expected, and seldom a sign of melanoma.

For adults, the sudden development of a new mole, or asymmetric changes to existing moles, may be a sign of melanoma. Caught early, this potentially deadly type of skin cancer is actually highly treatable. We encourage patients to periodically examine their own skin. If you see a mole or other lesion that is growing, itching, bleeding, or changing in any way, it should be evaluated by a dermatology professional.

Whether you are concerned about the possibility of skin cancer or simply want to improve your self-confidence by having a mole removed, make an appointment to see one of our physicians or physician assistants. With years of experience in skin cancer treatment, Associated Dermatologists can pinpoint any areas of concern, or help you to look and feel your best.
